4/25/2013 12:30 PM PUBLIC HEALTH BENEFITS The Bellingham Early Childhood Program Presents Massachusetts Public Benefits Programs for Children with Special Needs Please join us at the Preschool on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Gail Havelick from the Department of Public Health, Division for Perinatal, Early Childhood, and Special Health Needs will present a program for parents interested in learning about the complex system that families rely on to finance health care for children with disabilities or chronic illnesses. She will discuss Supplemental Security Income (S.S.I.) eligibility, the application process for Mass Health (Medicaid), benefits, and appeals. Families with private insurance may have children who would qualify for supplemental insurance called Common Health and premium assistance for their private insurance. Amy Boone, the Children’s Coordinator for the Department of Developmental Services, will also be available. She will present an overview of the services her Department provides. There is no fee to attend. Those wishing to attend should call the preschool office at 508-966-2512 or email, swhite@bellinghamk12.org by Friday, April 12, 2013 to register.
4/1/2013 7:00 PM BASIC RIGHTS The Basic Rights workshop provides families and professionals with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Massachusetts Special Education Law and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with their child’s school to decide their child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan, make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.

11/14/2012 6:00 PM Transitional Fair - Primavera High School Bellingham Public Schools will be hosting its first Bellingham Transition and Resources Fair to be held at the P.J. Primavera High School on Harpin Street. There will be several vendors attending to help with the transition of students to adulthood. More information will be posted soon.
